Cute

The Webster’s dictionary defines it to be something that is ugly yet tolerable. However the colloquial usage of the word is well... something off that. Off late the usage of this term has become more or less meaningless. This is a phenomenon I’ve noticed more among the fairer sex. Everything is cute, every animal that ends before their knees is cute, every guy that looks decent and not like Arnold Schwarzenegger is cute.[1] Things are cute, flowers, cups, pots even nails are cute. Two people hugging are cute; at times even fighting is cute. Leaves of trees are cute, birds are cute, and feathers are cute. Cows are cute, yaks are cute, even Donkeys are cute. To top it all the Brick is cute. At times I wonder if the word cute had a soul that needed to be present whenever the meaning of the word was used then the soul of the word cute would be tattered up amongst its so many varied uses. On another thought maybe that is why Webster defined the word cute to mean ugly yet tolerable because with the usage of the meaning being so negligible the soul can rest in peace.

[1] Which kind of amounts to every 15th guy on the planet.

Dodging Chemistry

The sounds of wroom and Whoosh and
Scherrrr I'd relate to a racing track
but as they say the world is round
what goes around comes back
of late the classes have begun
and I have Chemistry again
So again in class I'l sit and write
that the subject is such a pain
Oh! getting back to where I was
the sounds of Whoosh and Wroom
Right now in this class i am
I can hear thse in the room
The Prof. standing and preaching
in a language unknown to man
and i'm genuinely trying to pay
attention, as much as i possibly can
but the words Pyridine chloro chromate
just do not ring a bell
the words just bounce of my head
and hopefully land up somewhere in hell
this bouncing of words you know
is not a funny thing
they clash and clang and bang away
before disappearing in a bling
now tired of the banging
I'm playing a different game
I'm trying to miss the words
that he's throwing all the same
At times i am successful and
the words pass near my ear
The whoosh and wroom and at times
a scherrr, that how i am able to hear

Laissez-faire

College started again. First thing that happened after the day in the dust (cleaning it up actually) was the long list of new rules which kinda reminded me of this poem that i had written about doing away with rules like this

Laissez-faire

From time in memorial it is known to man

That he should be left to do what he can

No rules, no regulations no bell at night

Let man work his way and fight his fight

Situations will come; there will be many a test

For him to find a way, to show he’s the best

Darwin called it survival of the fit

Each man builds his own bit by bit
so now its time for me to fend

A helping hand to myself I’ll lend.

Naye Yaden

This is one of my few Hindi poems that are a little serious, I also saw this new feature that blogger has that lets u write in the script so here goes:
