An interesting choice

Hi,

this is a thought that hit me when I was talking to my dad the other day while walking our dog, Bagheera. It was like this we were discussing about colleges and their cultures and how every college had its culture and once a culture was established it would take a while for it to undergo a slow gradual change etc etc, and then he was telling me a story about how when he went from IIT, Delhi to IIM A, there was a cultural paradigm shift in spite of the 2 colleges being well IIT and IIM. he told me that in IIT the culture was to copy, journals, assignments all that. now when he went to IIM he was met with this Accounts assignment, he knew nothing of accounts, he had access to an already complete assignment that would surely get him an A+, but the culture of the place just dint allow him to pick up that sheet of paper and copy it, and he was not the only one doing the work on their own, that is what the culture of a place can do to you, after that he did get a A not an A+ but an A none the less. Then i thought allowed, if you had got that A+ you wouldn't be telling me this story, to which he said, a story i can tell 30yrs later over a '+', its the story any day, and i couldn't agree more, but like they say, the ass has 20-20 vision, we can always know the right in hind sight, so we will never really know whether we should do something simply because 30 years down the line there will be a night when it will be your turn to talk and you will have a story to share, a story that will make your shoulders broaden and make you feel six feet tall.

how ever i might like to agree with you, tomorrow may be just an illusion but unfortunately yesterday is not and we still have to make sure that the decisions we made yesterday dose not make it impossible to live today .

yea i agree.. we build our tomorrow with every yesterday.. but when we are making a choice, the circumstances then, might be extremely different from the ones that lie ahead of us.. we always make a choice thinking of tomorrow.. it's a judgement always made on that.. but since tomorrow is unseen.. our decisions can never be the best.. at least not always.. that's why i'm saying we do what we think is the best for us.. not only for today, but also for tomorrow.. so our choice is always for tomorrow.. basically.. everyday we are choosing or building our tomorrow to quite an extent

@Brick: seems like the 4 lines has totally changed ur stance, totally agree, we can never be sure but the future also does play a role in what we do and what are decisions are

I absolutely agree... We do everything today based on our tomorrow. So maybe if tomorrow we want to have a story to tell about a lesson learnt, about decisions made, we might just do that... Or it could just happen by chance and u wind up with one helluva story... Its best not to think too much about what u do anyway :P
