What was he* thinking?!?!

Some of the most enjoyable conversations I've had are those which start somewhere, twist, turn, flash, burn and go through winding lanes, across trees, meadows and finally land up in a place that has absolutely nothing to do with how that conversation begun.

At the end of such a conversation I often wonder, "How did we get here?" and then go on to retrace the dialogue back to the original topic of discussion.

Similarly, when I come across a delicacy or a novel idea, I often wonder how this came to be? What was the thought process... chain of thought... spark of imagination. At times it makes sense, for example, Fire. One can imagine the first fire must have been the result of a lightning or a spontaneous forest fire and that gave out heat (a desirable thing for early man). Rubbing hands for warmth is intuitive so someone must have made the connection, did some experimentation an voila FIRE!... but this is an example that makes sense, an origin story one can imagine, but that's not what this post is about. This is about the random things that I am unable to fathom.

Milk - The first person who saw the udder of a cow and went like you know what would be really cool... let me squeeze that and drink whatever comes out ... What was he thinking?!?!?

Sausages - For those who don't know... sausages are basically cheap parts of a pig ground and stuffed into the small intestine of what is usually the same pig. Now while they are really tasty, if you think about it, whoever came up with the idea to push meat down the pigs piping before it goes down yours... What was he thinking?!?!?!?

Cheese (Mature) - I can imagine curdling of milk to get cheese must have been an accidental discovery, but who was the smart Alec who decided that it would be a good idea let this thing spoil to the point where it begins to smell and then eat it... What was he thinking?!?!?!?

Birds nest - I'm not wondering what was a bird thinking when it decided to build itself a nest. I'm talking about using birds nest in deserts and soup. Whoever came up with this idea must have really had something against these birds. He would have thought to himself, "I will show that bird, I'll eat its family, and its eggs and you know what ...for good measure I'll eat up its nest also"...Seriously... What was he thinking?!?!?!?

And then there are the weirder delicacies in the world which I cant even begin to imagine what was going on in the persons head when they came up with the dish. For example century egg or urine brine eggs ... I'm not going to try and explain what these are (feel free to google them (Not Safe For Work)) but seriously... WHAT WAS HE THINKING?!?!?!?!?

If you have had similar thoughts please leave your ideas in the comments.

Dream, Think, Create

A vision here a dream there
A thought here about everywhere
Good and bad makes two and two
A chain of ideas together sew
And with this chain come along
Add to it, let’s make it long

A storm here a boggle there
A stream of sparks flowing everywhere
Of all the lights pick up a few
Spring to life make something new
Be it a thing, a bing, a dong
At least to you it will belong.

Song Unsung

Well coming back from memory lane here is something that is very fresh written just early this morning, the pic does not explain too much but somehow fits its something that can not be told.

Song Unsung

Another day another thought

Another way, today I sought

I path less seen I chose to choose

I believed in it and let faith loose

I clambered upon another soul

And lit a candle in a deep dark hole

The soul met another and the word spread

The word moved on long after it was dead

On some silent nights even now

If you listen properly I’ll tell you how

You can here me singing a song I know

A song that’s in the head I’ll let you know

It is a voice that can not be sung

It’s a feeling that lingers on every rung

The closer this song gets to thee

The better you know yourself and me

Last day of Education

Now neither is this poem mine nor is it from anywhere down my memory lane, this is a poem written by a senior of mine very recently and well again as the title goes this was written when he was passing out of college, there is a bit of relevance in relation to the earlier post so this piece just has to be here

Last day of education

Last day of education, last day of being student.

Last day of fun, last day of baking in sun.

Last day of our fights, last day of movie nights.

Last day of listening to none, last day of being one.

Last day of vodka shots, last day of attendance shorts.

Last day of joshi's Dal, last day of tolerating Dalal.

Last day of evening walks, last day of On the Rocks.

Last day of dean being wicked, last day of playing floor cricket... ....

live this last day to the fullest !

Last day at school

Hey, these days i'm in two new moods, one is going through a lot of old stuff that i had written a while ago and the other is i'm in the mood to blog so well putting two and two together i'm blogging about some of my older stuff, this is as the title suggests written during the last days of school, whenever i get charged with emotion poetry flows and thats how i guess this one came out

Last day at school

It's finally here this is the end
Now school is over and life will bend
The treasures of youth the magic of friends
The pleasures of jokes with tragic ends
The times we spent chatting to glory
With zealous passion we would tell a story
The time has passed, it has just flown by
And now I really don't want to say good bye
But oh alas we just have to move on
From students in 12th to follow the sun
But my heart says the end is not here
We will meet again far or near
Destiny has ment to keep us longer
And that's why friends have never bonded stronger
Together we leave on our paths with sorrow
Don't shed a tear you may meet tomorrow
With jokes in our ears and the sun in our eyes
We will be chatting again forgetting gone byes
Now coming to the end of this humongous rhyme
Lets wish each other good bye now is the time.

Why cant parents understand???

This is a poem i had written during my class 12 boards and that was my mental element at that time, i had never planned to show it to my parents but as fate would have it i showed it to some of my friends who showed it to their parents (well they hadn't written it after all) and during one of the exams it leaked from one parent to another and it was out in the open, strangely i got an interestingly positive reaction and all was well now this thing goes public or the closest to that.

Why cant parents understand???

Parents say they know what's best for me

And invariably they're right

But the few rare times when I disagree

It ends up in a fight

They not only tell us to study

As if that's not enough

They'll also tell us what and when

Only making things tough

They do not know the syllabi

They do not know the course

But they have an agenda for everything

And that they will force

The situation is very glum

And the there's nothing you can do

For then they'll display your actions

Like an animal at the zoo

I know I am no exception

It's like this everywhere

For our parents have their expectation

To which we must adhere.

Now the trouble with this rhyme is that

Well it should reach their ears

But then we'll see the zoo again

And an animal will be in tears

So I've written these words of truth

That can't be said or heard

So I'll just be liven life the way it is,

Without uttering a single word.

An interesting choice

Hi,

this is a thought that hit me when I was talking to my dad the other day while walking our dog, Bagheera. It was like this we were discussing about colleges and their cultures and how every college had its culture and once a culture was established it would take a while for it to undergo a slow gradual change etc etc, and then he was telling me a story about how when he went from IIT, Delhi to IIM A, there was a cultural paradigm shift in spite of the 2 colleges being well IIT and IIM. he told me that in IIT the culture was to copy, journals, assignments all that. now when he went to IIM he was met with this Accounts assignment, he knew nothing of accounts, he had access to an already complete assignment that would surely get him an A+, but the culture of the place just dint allow him to pick up that sheet of paper and copy it, and he was not the only one doing the work on their own, that is what the culture of a place can do to you, after that he did get a A not an A+ but an A none the less. Then i thought allowed, if you had got that A+ you wouldn't be telling me this story, to which he said, a story i can tell 30yrs later over a '+', its the story any day, and i couldn't agree more, but like they say, the ass has 20-20 vision, we can always know the right in hind sight, so we will never really know whether we should do something simply because 30 years down the line there will be a night when it will be your turn to talk and you will have a story to share, a story that will make your shoulders broaden and make you feel six feet tall.

Start Over

Well just another one of my random poems I call this one

Start Over

Another year has just began
a new day a new sun
A new goal a Fresh Start
Another play a new part
More people to come by
A new sky for me to fly
Amidst the future and the past
i see the present moving fast
the time has come the time is here
no time for sorrow not a place for tear
now feeling inspired to the core
with the eagles i shall soar

laugh and you laugh alone

This is a very common saying that laugh and the world laughs with you, cry and you cry alone. i found this statement used in a friends blog(http://poignantrose.blogspot.com/2007/05/exchange-offer-p.html) and either contextually or even otherwise I'd like to differ on.
i would like to humbly submit that the statement 'you laugh and the world laughs with you' is not true and i will provide multiple explanations for the same.

First: when ur happy and laughing u don't see the people who are crying and think that the whole world is sharing ur joy.

and lastly: often people only seem to be happy when you are and that why you think so. in fact the other person may well be quite sad and the fact that you are happy may only trouble the person evermore.

furthermore, when you cry, anyone and every one whose lives you touch to a certain deep extent will be hurt and will in effect be in tears.

so the net number of people who will support you whether ur happy or sad is the same and more often that not it is the same people also.

so ending this post here keeping it short, i think what is important is that you should have people to share things with be it happiness or sadness for that matter and that is what is most important, everyone needs a ear.

Intel inside

In your head, it is hereby established that every head has an intel/AMD inside. The brain is very much like a processor it basically manages all the thinking that a man(including woman[1]). Now that is nothing surprising a pretty common analogy, so what am i trying to say here? well apart from all the thinking that a brain does and all the understanding and retrieving of data it does, i call it an intel because a brain also has the side effects of a processor. it gets over heated, and shuts down, and then when you cool it down slowly it regains the ability to compute and comprehend situations. So the next time you feel like windows hanging mid work, just go and put ur head in cool water, and don't worry about catching a chill, i have tried it with the heat sink of my comp, i once put it in the freezer when it overheat so u can safely put the heads heat sink in water, well here i am talking about hair.
